yep, I'm going to felt it.

Fiber Trends has a pattern for felted slippers that are sized for the whole family. we usually take off our shoes by the front door (oddly enough, that's not where we come in the house.) And, with Little J at the Montessori preschool, he's accustomed to changing to slippers inside, so, i'd like to start having them wear slippers at home, too.

What's the saying, "A sweater is what a child wears when his mother is cold"? It's so true. I really want to make slippers because my toes are cold, and they are running around in bare feet.

And I did think of how to have multiple pictures via flickr! The bottom picture is of the yarn that Little G picked out.

This was my Christmas present from the D.A. The book is Personal Footprints for Insouciant Sock Knitters by Cat Bordhi, and the yarn (raided from my Aunt's stash) is one skein of Fortissima Socka, and one skein of Inox 4-color Twister(I think). aren't they pretty?

I'm writing this blog entry via Flickr, and I haven't found out how to put more than one picture per entry, so there will be more blog posts today, with the REST of my stash increase.

plans for 2010

I've felt guilty (a little bit) about abandoning the blog lately. But the family came down with a flu/cold/general ickiness over the 1st of the year, and I can't manage to blog, or do much of anything, when I'm sick. So, I haven't felt too guilty.

I have a cornucopia of ideas for the blog, and of things that I want to do for the new year. All my yarnie goodies that I have acquired, since Christmas, should be exhibited, and the current knitting projects, too. And the sewing projects, and the gardening plans...

And this year, we'll be more involved in the local LaLecheLegue groups, and visit the local yarn stores (we drove 300 miles, and I visited a LYS. How silly can I be?), maybe I'll finally be part of an FRG(family readiness group, the army Luurves acronyms), more exercise! and see if the little boy would like to start Taekwondo (and maybe his mommy too, we'll see), and maybe I can go dancing with his Daddy...

Hopefully, there aren't too many more blizzards in this winter. I'm tired of being snowed in.

i know it's not the gremlins...

...it's my lack of organization. Once again, I put something in a safe spot, and now I can't find it.

I remember thinking, as I put the little SD memory card on a shelf, that it would be so easy for it to be knocked off the shelf and lost. That may be what happened. I hope not. Tomorrow, I'm going to look for it more, as it has pictures on it that I can't really replace. There's ones of Jaiden, and Thailand, that I don't have anyplace else. I know, i know, bad me, I should have copied those :(

If anyone is psychic, and can tell me where that little sucker is, I would really appreciate it. If you're not, a prayer to St. Jude and St. Anthony would be appreciated.

Every so often, I get carried away baking. Today wasn't TOO bad, but it was still enough cookies that the littlest ones were tired out by the decorating. Little Sister and I finished up the decorating by our lonesomes. This sugar cookie recipe is pretty good, I found it in a library book "Christmas Cookies from the Whimsical Bakehouse" and the royal icing recipe is from the Wilton Baking Powdered Meringue.

As you can tell from the top picture, everybody has their own ideas of decorating. There's only 4 shapes, and 3 colors (mainly), but I let the kiddos go wild with the sprinkles.

and, there were a few accidents...

The kiddos helped decorating, and cutting out cookies for the next batch also. aren't they cute?
