Pomatomous socks (finished)

Pomatomous socks (finished)

Whee, finally finished! Those are my feet in the picture, and Little Sister's feet are a little bigger, so I think they should be perfect. Don't they look nice, though? Almost makes me want to make a pair of my own. Except, this pair took me almost 3 months to finish, so, I think I'll finish up with my other projects first. Now that I think about it, I even have a set of socks for my self that I'm working on (Clessidra)

I gave them to Little Sister, and she and Little J agree, they are _wonderful_ socks! I've strictly warned Little Sister that they are not, absolutely not, to be throw in the washing machine. After all my work, I'll even be willing to hand wash them for her.

I loooove this yarn...

Yarn Harlot in Indy!

She was funny, she was interesting, she looked exhausted...and I didn't get one single picture, darn it. But I did get two copies of her new book signed, one for me, one for a relative. Well, Little Sister stood in line for me to have them signed, I didn't get to actually meet Stephanie :( both of the little kids had started crying, and I had to take them to the car. poor kidlets. They don't do well late in the evening, especially when mommy has to divide her attention between them.

I didn't get a chance to see if anyone I knew was there...were you?

potty mistakes

i haven't mentioned potty training in a while, but we have been working on it. My goal was to have Little J able to tell us when he needed to go to the bathroom, by the time the new baby was born. That hasn't happened, btw. Little J refuses to tell us if he needs to go, but as long as I remember to insist he tries regularly, he's able to keep his underwear dry. The newest thing we've been trying, is to encourage him to go by himself. He's able to do almost all of the seperate steps without help, so his daddy and I have been telling him that he can go to the bathroom and pee when he needs to. Usually, he still wants mommy or daddy to help him out.

Yes, and this morning, he showed that he's been listening. I was busy with the baby, and he decided that he needed to pee. He opened the bathroom door, went in, took his undies off....i'm not sure what happened then, but when I was able to put the baby down and went in to check, there was pee all over the floor, he had the stepstool by the toilet (even with the step, he's not tall enough to sit on the toilet by himself, poor boy) and he went to get the sesame street toilet seat to sit on. So, I helped him finish up, put his underwear back on, and sent him to play. Then I cleaned up all the pee. Oh well! He's trying, and I'm so proud of him.

Thinking about it (and the possible trajectories) I think he probably did manage to get onto the toilet, but not back far enough before he started to pee. So it all went on the floor, instead on in the toilet. I think, i may need to get a new toilet seat for him to use.

well, that's one thing done!

Our income taxes are finished! Finally!

yes, Big J and my combined tendency to procrastination meant that we finished up our taxes right before the due date. But, our other tendency to technology means that I don't have to go to the post office - it was all done over the computer. So there, united states postal service.

On Saturday, I had a list of things to do, and Big J had a list of things to do. Of mine, 0 out of 2 were accomplished (i didn't have a great weekend. Oh well. Sunday was a bit better) and on Big J's, the items were install baby latches on the kitchen cabinets (we've meant to do it since we moved in. a year and a half ago. again, can we say 'procrastinate'?) and to do our income taxes. Big J's list did get finished, which is part of the reason mine did not, since my participation was required in his projects. Again, oh well.

And, by my excellent internet skills, I've finished up with the last bit of the taxes today. Yay for me!

And tonight, (if no unforeseen emergencies occur) I'm going to knitting night. I didn't last week, and if I don't get out of the house and talk to some adult females, I'm likely to, er...do something drastic, i'm sure. Cami was very very nice offering to let me sew at her place, and I'll probably take her up on it, but, le sigh, Clementine's isn't open on Monday (I'm not saying you should be, i understand that y'all need to have time off from running the dry goods store, but I'm mourning today's impossibility of running down to franklin on impulse. Today is Monday, isn't it?)

hmmm...my vocabulary is becoming erudite. Time to reboot the brain. and take the little boy to the bathroom. bye!

life happens more often than blogging does

Well, not much has been happening lately. Little G's a good little baby, but she does require a lot of attention. I can't type nearly as fast one-handed! On Saturday, she had started getting pimples all over her face. Poor girl! I read of one person whose baby's eczema was due to the mother eating milk, so, I'm avoiding milk for a while to see if we can get her face to clear up. It does seem to be getting better, thank goodness.

Little Sister is knitting a sock. She really wanted to learn how, and using sock weight yarn was frustrating her because it was taking too long. So, we switched to worsted weight wool-ease, and it's been going much faster. Her socks have a twisted stitch ribbing at the top, however, because I didn't realize she was twisting her purl stitches until she got to the heel flap and wanted me to fix some other issues. Remember, it's a design feature, not a mistake. ;) If I don't
encourage her to work on it, she MAY still be working on this first sock when Yarn Harlot visits Indianapolis. I am absolutely going to see her speak, and Stephanie (the Yarn Harlot) always takes lots of pictures of 1st socks, and babies (I'm going to bring Little G along too, of course. Maybe not Little J, hopefully I can have his daddy watch him.)

My knitting hasn't progressed much further. Le sigh. I've knitted maybe 5 more rows on my pomatomous sock, and only a couple rows on the bibs. I'm avoiding Clementine's Dry Goods, too, because I know that I would get more projects. Cami blogged about some gorgeous fabric, that i would love to make into a diaper bag/tote thingie...but do i have anymore time to sew than I do to knit? I don't think so. :( it's very sad...

And i want to plant garden seeds too...there's not enough hours in a day, and I don't have enough hands!

Regarding Monday

I just realized that today is Wednesday. I don't get much time on the computer, and there's stuff that I meant to do yesterday...and it didn't happen. Oops.

Monday I took some time to myself, and Gloria and i went to Knitting Night at Panera's. I really needed it, too. I had been getting very stressed at home, worrying about what the little boy was doing, and what the bigger girl wasn't doing, and biting my tongue to keep from snapping at anybody. yep, it was one of those days.

Anyway, it was a nice surprise at Knitting Night. Crystal and Ashley had knitted up baby presents for Gloria. Ashley made a sweet booties and hat set, and Crystal made a very fashionable little summer top for Gloria. Thank you, y'all are so nice!

Tonight, the Little Sister and I are going to a different knitting session. It's a new thing at the library - Knit Wits. It's a once-a-month session, and tonight is the first time they've had it. Little Sister and I are going to see what it's like. I'll have to tell you about it later.

Ciao!
